मोटर व्हीकल संशोधन बिल पास
राज्यसभा ने देश में सड़क दुर्घटनाओं में कमी लाने के मकसद से बुधवार को सड़क सुरक्षा के लिए कठोर प्रावधानों वाले मोटर यान (संशोधन) विधेयक-2019' को मंजूरी दे दी. राज्यसभा ने विधेयक को चर्चा के बाद 13 के मुकाबले 108 मतों से पारित कर दिया. विधेयक पर लाये गये विपक्षी सदस्यों के संशोधन प्रस्तावों को ध्वनिमत से खारिज कर दिया गया. यह विधेयक गत सप्ताह लोकसभा में पारित हुआ था, किंतु विधेयक में मुद्रण की कुछ मामूली त्रुटि रह जाने के कारण सरकार को उसे ठीक करने के लिए तीन संशोधन लाने पड़े. इन संशोधनों के कारण अब यह विधेयक फिर से लोकसभा में जाएगा.

Over 15 days before a road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli left the Unnao rape survivor critically injured and killed two of her relatives, she had written a letter to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) claiming that they faced grave danger to their lives. Now, amid allegations that the accident was orchestrated by Kuldeep Sengar, the BJP lawmaker accused of raping the teenager in 2017, Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has directed the court registry to submit details of the letter. "The CJI has asked the Secretary General to go through the letter written in Hindi for preparing a note of it for his perusal," an official of the Supreme Court said.

A private financier in Hyderabad was kidnapped by four masked men Sunday night and taken to a godown over nine kilometers away, the police said. He was released after his family paid Rs. 1 crore as ransom to the kidnappers. Gajendra Parakh was kidnapped after 11 pm on Sunday and was kept in a godown in the city. His kidnappers threatened to kill him if his family did not pay them Rs. 3 crore.

कर्नाटक के नए मुख्यमंत्री बीएस येदियुरप्पा को आज विधानसभा में बहुमत साबित करना है. जेडीएस और कांग्रेस के 17 बाग़ी विधायकों को अयोग्य क़रार दिए जाने के बाद बहुमत का आंकड़ा 105 रह गया है. अकेले बीजेपी के पास यह आंकड़ा मौजूद है, साथ ही एक निर्दलीय विधायक का भी साथ है. ऐसे में येदियुरप्पा को बहुमत साबित करने में कोई मुश्किल नहीं आएगी. वहीं कांग्रेस और JDS के पास स्पीकर समेत 100 विधायक हैं. बीजेपी ने जेडीएस को बाहर से समर्थन का ऑफ़र भी दिया है साथ ही बीजेपी ने बाग़ी विधायकों को अदालती लड़ाई में समर्थन देने की बात भी कही है. दल-बदल क़ानून के तहत अयोग्य ठहराए गए 17 बाग़ी विधायक स्पीकर के फ़ैसले के ख़िलाफ़ सुप्रीम कोर्ट में गुहार लगा सकते हैं. अयोग्य विधायक अदालत से मामले में जल्द सुनवाई की भी मांग कर सकते हैं.

पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री और कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता जयपाल रेड्डी का हैदराबाद में निधन हो गया. बताया जा रहा है कि जयपाल रेड्डी पिछले कई दिनों से खराब स्वास्थ्य की समस्या से गुजर रहे थे. शनिवार की रात उनकी तबियत ज्यादा खराब हो गई थी, जिसके बाद उन्हें एआईजी (AIG) अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था. इलाज के दौरान उनका निधन हो गया. जयपाल रेड्डी 77 साल के थे. जयपाल रेड्डी यूपीए सरकार के दौरान केंद्रीय विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री रह चुके हैं. जयपाल रेड्डी का जन्म 16 जनवरी 1942 को हैदराबाद के मदगुल में हुआ था. हालांकि, अब यह तेलंगाना राज्य के अंतर्गत आता है. उन्होंने 7 मई 1960 को लक्ष्मी से शादी रचाई थी. उनके दो बेटे और एक बेटी है.

The BJP in Assam lashed out at the official overseeing the National Register of Citizens, a list to weed out illegal settlers, accusing him of working for "some vested interest" on Wednesday. Prateek Hajela, the coordinator for the National Register of Citizens or NRC, had told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that 27 per cent of the names in the draft NRC had been verified once again. Based on Mr Hajela's report, the top court turned down a request by the centre and Assam government to have up to 20 per cent of the names on the draft NRC, particularly in districts bordering Bangladesh, checked again.

The BJP in Assam lashed out at the official overseeing the National Register of Citizens, a list to weed out illegal settlers, accusing him of working for "some vested interest" on Wednesday. Prateek Hajela, the coordinator for the National Register of Citizens or NRC, had told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that 27 per cent of the names in the draft NRC had been verified once again. Based on Mr Hajela's report, the top court turned down a request by the centre and Assam government to have up to 20 per cent of the names on the draft NRC, particularly in districts bordering Bangladesh, checked again.

11 Flights Cancelled, Train Services Hit After Overnight Rain In Mumbai

Air and rail traffic was disrupted in Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, after heavy rain continued overnight. Eleven flights were cancelled this morning at the Mumbai airport due to fluctuating visibility. Several flights were diverted too. A train carrying more than 700 passengers was stranded in Badlapur amid heavy downpour. This led to disruption in train services in the area. Suburban services in the city are running normally.

करगिल विजय के आज 20 साल पूरे हो गए. ठीक 20 साल पहले भारतीय सेना ने पाकिस्तान सेना पर विजय हासिल की थी. इस वक्त इंडिया गेट के पास बने वॉर मेमोरियल पर शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि दी जा रही है. रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह भी शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि देने यहां पहुंचे हैं. भारत ने 26 जुलाई 1999 को करगिल युद्ध में विजय हासिल की थी. करगिल युद्ध में भारत की जीत के बाद से हर साल 26 जुलाई को करगिल विजय दिवस मनाया जाता है.

Tigress Beaten To Death In UP, Villagers Make Video With "Commentary"

A disturbing two-minute video from Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district shows an adult tigress being beaten to death with sticks by villagers this week.

The village is close to the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, about 240 km from state capital Lucknow. The mobile video, shot by a resident of the Mataina village on Thursday afternoon, captures the assault by the villagers and even has a background commentary by a witness who says they are assaulting the tigress because she had attacked and injured a villager in the morning.

करगिल विजय के आज 20 साल पूरे हो गए. ठीक 20 साल पहले भारतीय सेना ने पाकिस्तान सेना पर विजय हासिल की थी. इस वक्त द्रास में वॉर मेमोरियल पर शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि दी जा रही है. जहां बड़ी संख्या में सेना के अधिकारी और शहीदों के परिजन पहुंचे हैं. आम जनता भी यहां पहुंची है और शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि दे रही है. भारत ने 26 जुलाई 1999 को करगिल युद्ध में विजय हासिल की थी. करगिल युद्ध में भारत की जीत के बाद से हर साल 26 जुलाई को करगिल विजय दिवस मनाया जाता है. भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच मई और जुलाई 1999 के बीच कश्मीर के करगिल जिले में सशस्त्र संघर्ष हुआ था. करगिल युद्ध लगभग 60 दिनों तक चला था और 26 जुलाई को उसका अंत हुआ. भारतीय सेना और वायुसेना ने पाकिस्तान के कब्ज़े वाली जगहों पर हमला किया था और धीरे-धीरे अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सहयोग से पाकिस्तान को सीमा पार वापिस जाने को मजबूर किया था. पाकिस्तानी घुसपैठियों के खिलाफ सेना की ओर से की गई कार्रवाई में भारतीय सेना के 527 जवान शहीद हुए तो करीब 1363 घायल हुए थे. इस लड़ाई में पाकिस्तान के करीब तीन हजार सैनिक मारे गए थे, मगर पाकिस्तान मानता है कि उसके करीब 357 सैनिक ही मारे गए थे.
