Tamil Nadu Delays Vaccine Roll-Out For 18+, Awaits 1.5 Crore Doses
Tamil Nadu Government will not be flagging off the third phase of vaccination from today as the state is yet to receive 1.5 crore doses it had ordered from the Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech. With the state's daily Covid tally nearing 20,000, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan spoke to NDTV's Sam Daniel on the state's challenges including shortage of beds, strategy and on criticism that the government had let it loose during recent poll campaign though it had effectively contained the spread earlier. He also explains that all people - testing positive for Covid- don't need hospitalisation and that "a Covid screening centre should be the first stop for non-emergency cases for an evaluation".

States like Maharashtra and Delhi say they don't have enough doses. The Mumbai civic body has cited vaccine shortage and said it is stopping vaccination for three days, starting today. COVID-19 has infected over 3.86 lakh more people in India in yet another worrying daily high and killed 3,498 the last 24 hours. Deaths have doubled in the last two weeks, up by 200 per cent 3. The positivity rate has crossed 20 per cent. The tourist hotspot of North Goa has a positivity rate of over 50 per cent. कोरोना : 400 जिलों में संक्रमण ज्यादा, राज्यों को सख्त कदम उठाने के निर्देश

केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने अब पॉज़िटिविटी रेट के आधार देश के अलग-अलग ज़िलों में कोरोना नियंत्रण करने का फ़ैसला किया है. देश के 400 ज़िले ऐसे हैं, जहां हफ़्ते भर में पॉज़िटिविटी रेट 10 फ़ीसदी से ज़्यादा है और यहां संक्रमण के ख़तरे को रोकने को लेकर केन्द्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने राज्यों को सख्त कदम उठाने का निर्देश दिया है. वहीं इन 400 ज़िलों में से 265 ज़िले में लॉकडाउन लगाने पर भी चर्चा है, जहां कि पॉज़िटिविटी रेट पिछले हफ़्ते भर में 15 फ़ीसदी से ज़्यादा है. अब फ़ैसला राज्यों को करना है.
