The activity at Mumbai's only genome sequencing laboratory has picked up amidst concerns over a new variant, Omicron, that has been detected in South Africa. Mumbai has alerted health care staff and the laboratory is functioning at full capacity to detect the new variant amongst those samples found positive especially from those arriving from Countries of concern.
